Quality Assurance Management

Seara maintains a multidisciplinary technical team which develops quality concepts
and technical principles that encourage the achievement of quality through the
following technical programs:

1. Animal Health Program and Pathogen Control
2. Aninal Welfare Program - WELFARE
3. Good Veterinary Practices - GAP / Biosafety / Pathogen Control
4. Production System under Official Control - DAS/SIF
5. GMP - Good Manufacturing Practices
6. Integrated Plague Control - CIP
7. Standard Sanitation Procedure and Operational Hygiene - SSOP's
8. Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points - HACCP
9. Supplier Evaluation System
10. SAC - Customer Service
11. Control of Pesticide and Biological Residues
12. Tracking System
13. Calibration System of Measurement and Test Equipment
14. Microbiological, virological, serologic, pesticide, residue,
physical-chemical and sensorial. Laboratory Controls.
15. Foreign Body Policy
16. Process Control - Capability / CEP / Responsibility / Authority

  1. Animal Health Program and Pathogen Control

The program monitors animal quality from housing , through breeding up to slaughtering to ensure the sanitation of the animals and the product health. By means of hazard controls against the main foodborne disease agents, Seara ensures that its herds are free from the main pathogens of economic impact.

Control activities mainly focus on the top of the pyramid of the production chain . They prioritize breeder stocks and monitor the rest of the chain up to industrialization. Microbial agents that affect both the production of safe food products to and the sanitary status of the animals themselves, such as Salmonella sp, Escherichia coli and Campylobacter jejuni, are controlled through HACCP through GAP- Good Agricultural Practices in combined agriculture and stock raising . Microbial agents that affect the safety of meat products such as Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp and Staphylococcus aureus, are monitored and controlled through Good Manufacturing Practices, Operational Hygiene Procedures (SOP´s) and HACCP.

  2. Animal Welfare Program - WELFARE
WELFARE, the Animal Welfare Program complies with the WELFARE recommendations - Federal Animal Welfare Council.

  3. Standard Procedures of Good Combined Agriculture and Stock Raising Practices - GAP
These procedures guarantee that the breeding of animals is in accordance with international standards of quality. They aim to obtain the best animal breeding and health status. Business partners and related companies are trained by Seara Alimentos technicians and periodically assessed according to a checklist, enabling Class A, B, and C classifications to be made.

  4. Industrial Production System
Our industrial park meets the national and international meat processing standards. Our operations are regularly inspected by both national and international sanitary authorities and the clients themselves.

  5. GMP - Good Manufacturing Practices
Through stringent hygienic and sanitary procedures that govern all operations and encompass all employees, from uniforms to facilities, we guarantee the production of safe products.

  6. HACCP - Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points
This analysis is based on the study of processes and on the identification of critical points, whose control is crucial for food safety and product quality. It is a managerial tool for the daily production process. In case of leaks, corrective measures are immediately implemented and evaluated as to their effectiveness.

  7. The 5S's Program - Order and Cleanliness
Through the "Practice the 5S's" Program, implemented in all areas of the Company- from combined administrative and industrial agriculture and stock raising through management and production-, we develop the routine of disposal, order, hygiene and cleanliness. This is how Seara´s working environment stays pleasant and healthy.

  8. Integrated Plague Control Program
It is implemented throughout the production chain, and represents our commitment to the assurance of animal health and ultimate product quality.

  9. Tracking system
Controls are maintained to ensure that information about the product during the stages of animal breeding, feed production, slaughtering and processing is obtained for proper analysis to approve its shipment and distribution (positive release). Information is immediately retrievable, and is an example of Seara's quality processes and products. The tracking system also allows for the RECALL of the non-performing products, as detected by the Company and/or occasionally post-shipment by the customers.

  10. Measurement and test equipment calibration system
Every branch counts on an equipment calibration system, which directly relates to the quality of the products.
