Private Refrigerated Cargo Terminal (Itajaí, Santa Catarina, Brazil)
Braskarne was founded in 1990 with the purpose of being used as an internal distribution center and for the storage of cargo for export. In 1999, Baskarne became controlled by Seara Alimentos, and in 2001 it was the first refrigerated cargo terminal in Brazil to be ISO 9001 certified. In 2005, a reefer container terminal (Tecon) was inaugurated, an investment that consolidates the company as one of the most important channels of storage and handling goods for export. In 2009, Braskarne was ISO 14001 certified, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to the sustainable development of their business.
The structure of Braskarne Cargo Terminal consists of:
Terminal (Pier)
- • 150m long pier;
- • Capacity for vessels up to 176m long and 30,000 ton;
- • 9.5m draft;
- • Cargo handling personnel.
Container Terminal
- • 438 power sockets for reefer containers;
- • 1,000 positions for 20’ Dry Boxes;
- • 2 reach stackers.
Storage
- • Two warehouses for general cargo – total area: 4,000 sqm;
- • Cold store (0ºC – 10ºC) for the inspection of chilled or frozen goods;
- • Appropriate equipment for each operation.

Braskarne is strategically located in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, Brazil, one of the most important Ports in Latin America, and the second largest container port in Brazil. It is situated at the right bank of the Itajaí-Açú river, 1.8 nautical miles from the river mouth, immediately upstream the commercial Port of Itajaí, with easy access via two main roads (BR-101 and BR-470).
